(Fear Agent fanart by Michael Cho)
So I read volume 1 of Fear Agent over the weekend and I was pretty much blown away by how good it is. Rick Remender’s (Punisher: Dark Reign, The End League) writing is captivating for a science fiction series, and regular artist Tony Moore (Walking Dead, Franken-Castle) shines.
The story’s protagonist, Heath Huston, is a Texan with a penchant for bourbon and hunting Aliens for money. He’s the last of the Fear Agents, a task force dedicated to eradicating alien threats to their home planet, Earth. Think Buck Rogers meets John McClane. It’s plenty endearing, action-packed, and funny all at the same time.
If you enjoy the campy yet serious plots of series’ like The Umbrella Academy or the Goon, you’ll love this. Alien truckers, tentacled hordes, and robot armies led by a disembodied brain? WHAT is not to like?
I’m already busy hunting down and catching up on every issue I can.
