A smattering of nerdery. Curated by Andrew, Miguel, Davis, Ian, and Michael.

12 Days of Boss-mas: Day 8
Keeping with Davis’ depresso theme, Day 8’s giveaway is comprised of a sad yet seminal issue in comics history, and a really cool Bat-family one-shot drawn by Toby Cypress (Blue Estate, Rodd Racer) where Batman is poisoned and Dick has to race to save his life. Toby’s style is really ink-heavy (think Mignola, Sook, Matthew Dow Smith)
A reblog of this post gets you in the running for:
Superman Vol 2 #75 (1993) -  Sealed, with trading cards, poster, obituary, and mourning armband
Batman/Nightwing: Bloodborne (this satisfies my slight “indie” theme)
Make sure you have /ask turned on so we can let you know you’ve won and also get your shipping info.
Big ups to Paul for winning the Day 7 giveaway. Davis will have Infinity Gauntlet #1 out to you faster than Thor caught “Warrior Madness” (i.e.: Asgard Syphilis)

If I ever had Doc Shaner do a commission for me, this would be it.  He nailed it, as always.

IGN report that during last night’s premiere screening of Batman: Year One, executive producer Bruce Timm revealed the next wave of DC universe animated features. The first, Justice League: Doom, we already knew about. The next was an adaptation of one-shot Superman story, Superman vs. The Elite. Pretty good so far, eh?

Well, here’s something even more exciting. The third movie they’ll be releasing in 2012 is none other than Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, it’s first ever two-parter. “It’s going to be very, very faithful to the comic,” Timm thankfully promised the lucky fans in attendance. No further details were revealed, although a question from the audience did prompt voice director Andrea Romano to say they would consider using Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for the voices of Batman and the Joker.

Other bits of info which were let slip during the Q&A included Timm saying that The Killing Joke HAS been considered (but is not currently being worked on) and that Kingdom Come will probably never be produced in the form of an animated movie. “It’s just not made for 2D animation. It’s not a good fit.”

Whoa whoa whoa! a CONFIRMED 2-Part Dark Knight Returns animated movie?! Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will be considered to voice?! count me in!!

I didn’t love the book as much as most people that consider it a classic, but I’m totally on board with this news.

After watching the recently-surfaced clips of the failed Wonder Woman pilot, it’s easy to see why the studios shut it down.

They got the costume right, everything else was oh, so wrong.

Well internet, call it a day. Nothing can top this.
