A smattering of nerdery. Curated by Andrew, Miguel, Davis, Ian, and Michael.

Not sure if a whole lot of people caught this issue on stands yesterday as it doesn’t look like your average Goon cover. The biting satire Eric Powell serves up is always great but for this issue in particular it’s not only palpable but fucking delicious.
It tears the big two a new asshole and rightly so. If the gimmicks companies use to solicit our dollars are generally laughable, why do we keep playing along with their games?
These questions and more inside of Goon #39. Go get it at your local shop. You’ll laugh, then cry, and forget all about it and go back to reading previews for Before Watchmen.

HNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG
Looks like Duncan Fegredo is doing covers for B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Long Death miniseries. From the synopsis, it sounds like we’ll be seeing Ben Daimio again.
Dark Horse is gearing up for a massive year for the Mignolaverse. It’s a great time to be reading creator-owned comics.

12 Days of Boss-mas: Day 12
Sorry this is so late, kids. It’s Boss-mas eve, in Hollis Queens! Or, um, on the internets. Thanks to everyone who reblogged our little contest. To be honest it was all Davis’ idea. He’s full of good ones.
This nerdblog is ran mainly by Miguel, Davis, and me (Andrew). Ian and Michael post when they can. We also have a webcomic that’s been more sparse than we like it to be, but we’re all “adults” with “real jobs” (whatever that means) so sometimes it takes a back burner. We’re planning on bringing it back. This blog is our chance to indulge a bit in the subjects our main tumblr readers might not suffer, but you all do so well. Thanks for reading and clicking those buttons in the top right of the browser.
The authors of this blog literally met through an online facial hair growing and self-portrait contest website. True story. Look us up. So we fully understand the power of the internets. And that’s why we did this contest, to give back to this thing we’ve come to enjoy so much not only for entertainment, but as a venue to meet cool people. We’ve made more friends via this blog, and we’d love to get to know even more of you. Joe Hunter’s going to shit a brick when I show up at his doorstep some morning.
We hope your year’s been amazing. We hope that 2012 is even better. I just got a 360 so I’ll prob start posting video game stuffs along with Davis, and not just comic shit all the time (nobody wants to hear my rants about how nobody loves Deathstroke and everyone loves Deadpool (it’s the gray hair, you age-ist younglings)… OR MAYBE YOU DO)
A reblog of this post gets you:
Autobiographix (Wagner, Sakai, Eisner, Aragones, Chadwick)
Iron Man: Enter The Mandarin (Eric Canete arts!)
Scientific Progress Goes Boink
Tokidoki Rogue charm
Make sure we can /ask you for your info. Otherwise you won’t win.
And a congrats to Amanda for winning the Batman/Bane/Azrael TPBs yesterday. She’s going to pull an all-knighter reading it (see what I did there?).
Happy Boss-mas, everyone.

Thomas Boatwright is set to draw Martin Powell’s Halloween Legion as a part of Dark Horse’s Sequential Pulp launch.
This, makes me giddy.

HOLY SHARTS the creative team behind Supermarket (Brian Wood & Kristian Donaldson) teams up for an original story that will begin in January’s Dark Horse Presents #8:
“The Massive” is one of several story ideas I came up with that I refer to as “post-crash”. In each case, that means something a little different — an economic crash, and environmental crash, a breakdown of society, a man-made disaster of some kind. Basically, a disaster story that starts after the disaster has already come and gone. That probably sounds a lot like “post-apocalyptic,” but in no way am I writing this as genre. But yeah, in the case of “The Massive,” this is an environmental collapse, a rather unique one, and the story starts in the aftermath.
You have no idea how excited I am for Brian Wood to be writing for Dark Horse.

Fiona Staples draws a variant cover for the Goon/Criminal Macabre crossover one-shot out 7/20? SOLD.
Christopher Mitten (Wasteland, Queen & Country) is handling interiors and if the back cover is an indication it’s going to be good.
