Looks like Duncan Fegredo is doing covers for B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Long Death miniseries. From the synopsis, it sounds like we’ll be seeing Ben Daimio again.
Dark Horse is gearing up for a massive year for the Mignolaverse. It’s a great time to be reading creator-owned comics.

This. Is why I pay extra for Mignola variants.

If anything, the most cliched comic book thing is Hellboy’s origin: this guy is not human, he comes to Earth, how does he become human? Because I grew up on comics, I wanted him grounded in the simple superhero mythology. I wasn’t thinking of Superman at all [when creating Hellboy], but it’s the same story.

I just started watching Smallville, which is all about that. It’s about a guy wrestling with these things. I’m glad I didn’t see this before because it covers the same ground I covered in Hellboy. No one ever told me to watch the show, but the scene where he has the “S” carved into his chest is such a striking image, and I needed a TV show to watch while I work now that I’m back to drawing.

Totally not HB or BPRD at all, but I just finished reading Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham. It’s probably one of the best (if not the best) Batman stories you’ll ever read. It is hard to come by in TPB form but out of print NM copies can be had on Ebay. If you’re interested in a link to the scanned version let me know.
Penned by Mignola and drawn by Troy Nixey (who did the art for Jenny Finn), it’s fully Bat-family and rogues, and fully Lovecraftian at the same time (Including but not limited to Harvey Dent as a living organic portal to “He Who Waits At The Gate, Iog Sotha!”)
There were plenty of panels and bits of dialogue where Bats could have easily been swapped out with Hellboy and not missed a beat. Very different for Batman fans maybe, but I loved it. Hey, it’s Elseworlds, right?
Highly recommended.
(btw Hellboy: Buster Oakley gets His Wish is out today. Go get it!)

mmmm mignolabats

I’ve no excuse for waiting so long to watch the animated pilot for The Amazing Screw-on Head.
I will say it’s every single thing I love about Mignola, from the art to the dialog and all the jokes in between. Nigh perfection. It’s sad that SyFy never picked it up as a series but I suppose it might be for the better. They’d be hard-pressed not to ruin it at some point, and never had the chance.
You can watch it in its entirety here.

Go watch, it’s absolutely brilliant and its humor might even cause you to make water in your pantaloons.
