Sometimes, it’s best not to ask questions. Just enjoy the gifts the internet brings.

I stumbled upon the art of Des Taylor a couple months ago and have been following him ever since.  He’s got a great sense of the vintage, almost in animated style, juxtaposed with more realistic backgrounds that I really enjoy.

These fictitious ’LIVE’ magazine covers are pretty great and I think you owe it to yourself to follow him as well.

Yes, this is official and yes, I’m SUPER into it.

[EDIT] now in hi-res!

Tim Daly’s (voice of Superman in the animated series, Justice League Doom) son Sam needs a few of his father’s super-friends to snap him out of his role playing.

12 Days of Boss-mas: Day 8
Keeping with Davis’ depresso theme, Day 8’s giveaway is comprised of a sad yet seminal issue in comics history, and a really cool Bat-family one-shot drawn by Toby Cypress (Blue Estate, Rodd Racer) where Batman is poisoned and Dick has to race to save his life. Toby’s style is really ink-heavy (think Mignola, Sook, Matthew Dow Smith)
A reblog of this post gets you in the running for:
Superman Vol 2 #75 (1993) -  Sealed, with trading cards, poster, obituary, and mourning armband
Batman/Nightwing: Bloodborne (this satisfies my slight “indie” theme)
Make sure you have /ask turned on so we can let you know you’ve won and also get your shipping info.
Big ups to Paul for winning the Day 7 giveaway. Davis will have Infinity Gauntlet #1 out to you faster than Thor caught “Warrior Madness” (i.e.: Asgard Syphilis)

Henry Cavill as SUPERMAN. YES.
okay, the photography of this still has the same feel like the Watchmen and SuckerPunch (sigh), but that costume still looks pretty awesome.
(Just look at that Fred Wray style “S” crest!!)
[edit] for those wondering, yes, we here at Boss Battle took the liberty to crank up the saturation in this still for our own purposes.  The regular version can be found elsewhere, if you’re into that dreary Superman look.

dcu:

Perry White?

After hearing this news and checking all the nerd-sites, I found that there’s a ton of controversy in the talkbacks surrounding this decision.  Most fanboys are in an uproar because gasp - “PERRY WHITE ISN’T BLACK IN THE COMIX!”
I for one and pretty exciting about all the casting announcements so far (Kevin Costner, Russel Crowe, Amy Adams, etc) and Mr. Morpheus is no exception.  Sure, he’s black, not an old white dude like in the comics.  But they did the same for Nick Fury in the Marvel Movies (and everyone cheered when they saw Samuel L. Jackson in the role).
So i don’t get it.  I say get over it, racist fanboys.  This is inspired casting the whole way through and now I just hope the script is as good as the actors filling up the movie.
